Our Approach to Yoga

At Creative Forces, we take a client-centered, trauma-conscious, approach to asana (yoga pose) and mindfulness. We integrate this practice into our therapeutic modalities of expressive arts and recreation. Our therapists utilize embodiment practices to explore and develop an awareness of one’s self and energy in support of mental health and healing.

Yoga Classes

Our classes are trauma-conscious and gently emphasize recognizing your individual needs in mind, body, and spirit, as well as increasing your ability to replenish your personal energy systems. Options are given to meet you where you are and deepen your yoga practice. All those 15 & up are welcome!

Compassionate Slow Flow

Series: The Self. A Yoga & Expressive Arts Journey

In this practice, you are in a supported environment that can allow you to tap into your mental, physical, and spiritual power created through flow and breath to attune to yourself. Each yoga journey, like each person, is unique, and you will be assisted in exploring your unique being at your level of comfort. To wrap up the daily practice, individuals will be offered opportunities to share about their yoga journey through the use of expressive art making and storytelling.

More about slow flow yoga: Slow flow aims to guide the individual through gentle body movements as a means to establish a foundation for deepening your practice. Through the use of mobilizing asanas, the body is supported in gently passing through moments of comfort and discomfort alike. This creates an opportunity for you to delve into exploring your inner self at your own pace including creating space to release body-based emotional experiences and long-held attachments.

A foundation of yoga is not necessary for this class. Come as you are.

Ground & Restore Aroma Yin

Yin is a beautiful practice that aids in freeing emotional residue in a manner that activates your parasympathetic “rest & digest” nervous system. Using the calm and stabilizing energy of the earth element to support your body you will begin to explore the passive activation of your muscles. As you soften into your body with longer holds you are able to target your body’s connective tissues such as ligaments and joints. This grounding support created while resting in asana promotes nourishment, restoration, and opportunities to explore your inner self. As an added benefit, essential oils will be incorporated to highlight relaxation and healing within the calming yin practice.
